Job Description & Responsibilities

The Elementary Education Teacher will be developed, supported, and guided by the School Principal and Assistant Principal. The Elementary Education Teacher’s major responsibilities are:

Implement curriculum and activities to meet the academic standards, use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices, participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions, be accountable for students achievement of academic standards, communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues, effectively implement Responsive Classroom techniques, candidates for this position should have strong leadership, organizational, communication, and decision-making skills; and the ability to identify learning challenges, analyze, process, and make judgments with the sensitivity that is necessary to lead and coordinate programs for students
Required Qualifications
Education, Training & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Elementary Education

Certificate & Licensure:
Appropriate Minnesota State Teacher License

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Demonstrate knowledge of effective teacher methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities
• Ability to maintain a positive learning environment for all students
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to defuse and resolve conflict with students, parents and co-workers by demonstrating poise, tact and diplomacy
• Computer competency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, e-mail and Internet
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Regular, prompt attendance is essential
• Proficient in completing required duties accurately and efficiently according to established timelines

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education
3+ Years experience teaching
